The difference in value for money is absolutely embarrassing, and Man U have a higher spend. I'd say almost every player on that list is a flop except for Fernandes. Man City have simply recruited far better. Money can't be an excuse for Man U. The Glazers have backed their manager to the hilt financially (yet THEY are the villains...)

Chelsea have spent comparable, but again some massive flops in terms of value for money (Lukaku second time, Morata, Pulisic, Torres, Werner, Kepa and there are massive question marks over Cucarella and Fofana at those prices.

Liverpool have spent a bit less and a somewhat more wisely, but have hardly been austere.

Cant remember what the time period was (post Fergie? since Pep?) but last week were saying that Man U had spent more than Man C ..... something like £1.4bn to £1.3bn

Of course everyone else would have paid £60m for Haaland if they were given the chance but was the same when Fergie bought Rooney for example.
Man U have just overspent on players nowhere near the quality of what Man C have spent on...

It’s the Yank owners who are ones who want to breakaway from the rest. And join up with the Southern European giants to form the Super League. Now Man City ain’t totally blameless. But how things panned out last time. They would be one of the last to jump ship next time.

Actually, I think they are also the least avericious of those clubs by a distance. Such is their wealth they don't need to be.

Last to sign up for the ESL and only did it because the other five did. First to quit it as well.

i believe they've done far less damage to the game than their 'elite' contemporaries both home and abroad. Sure they've waved a chequebook about but most of those bleating and moaning like Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool were doing it far earlier, and are also pretty much doing it just as much now. It's laughable how it's only 'unfair' for them when they aren't the ones outspending everyone handsomely.

Not saying all this money is good for the game, of course not, but I have far less ire with how they conduct themselves than the rest of the European 'elite'. Anyway. I'll stop trying to turn this into some sort of Man City love in.

I agree that City are probably the least cunty of the Big 6 and their fans are historically more agreeable than most.
But today's Man City is an avaricious beast that would, in a heartbeat, turn its back on English football as we know it - never mind ponder the implications for those left behind - if it could get away with it.
Neither is Haaland's talent in doubt. It hasn't been for years.
It's just that I'm fucked if I am going to get all excited by it.

A large number of Man City supporters used to get in the Black Lion before games and were really good to talk to ...They always had superb support even when they were shit like us and Sunderland an a few others so I also prefer to see them win things rather than Liverpool Man Utd etc.,

Completely agree. They are by far the least cunty and i constantly enjoy them beating the likes of liverpool, man u, chelsea etc whenever they do. Helps that they are a good team to watch play as well.

And yes, I'd also love there to be a global salary cap per club and limits on the number of professionals at any club. It would level the playing field inexorably, but those riding the gravy train- including UEFA, the PL, the FA and all the clubs will never agree to it. It's such a pity- especialyl as you say when compared to the NFL where it's possible to have absolute parity in squad limits, salary cap, TV revenue etc. and it means every team at least in theory has an equal chance of success.

Compared to the likes of Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool & Man U I always think Man City are the lesser of many EVILS.
Every trophy they win is one that the other lot dont which is fine by me.

Obviously the Premier League and world football is entirely happy with some teams having a ludicrous financial advantage over others and has no interest in making the leagues truly competitive.
Not a closed competition like some American sports for example so you cant have a draft or a proper salary cap.
Will never happen but have always said all clubs world wide should have the same salary budget (say £100m which 95% of clubs would never approach) and be allowed to have say 30 professionals over 18 under contract at any time so they cant stockpile players and loan them out.

Haven't the Man City owners done a tonne of development work for the Etihad campus and the surrounding area? Helping to fund schools and medical facilities, and expanding the airport etc.

I think they've done a decent amount for the City. They may be the wealthiest, but I'm really not sure they are the bad guys when it comes to looking at those big clubs and what they do for their surrounding areas. Spurs fucked a lot of local businesses over building their stadium, and I'm not sure exactly what Chelsea, Man U and Liverpool have contributed to their communities. Arsenal, I think are pretty good from what I've read. Even we haven't exactly covered ourselves in glory with some decisions the board have made.

Are they acting like he's an unknown gem? Not sure about that. The hype machine has been running for years on him, and actually they paid a relative pittance for him by today's standards at 50 odd million, which looks like steal of the century at the moment. On the open market he'd have gone for closer to 200 million.

The adulation is well deserved. The kid has 19 in 12 this season, 134 in 128 since leaving Norway aged 18, and 21 in 23 for the Norwegian national team. Phenomenal. If he stays fit he's going to go down as one of the best strikers in history.

Unfortunately I am too partisan to buy into the Haaland adulation.

Moreover, I get pissed off by the media acting as though City have somehow unearthed a hitherto unknown gem. Let's have this right. Arguably the best and richest team in the world paid an absolute fucking fortune (in blood money) to add the most fancied world striker to their embarrassment of riches. Consolidation of the Big 6 status quo and the fact that those six cunts wanted to rip apart the structure and integrity of the game for their own gain all conveniently forgotten.
Fuck Haaland and fuck City.

I seen the figures about his wages and it probably sounds silly saying this, but I don’t think he’s motivated by money, his team behind him obviously are but it doesn’t seem to faze him. I think he just wants to go to all the big leagues and score hundreds of goals.
